Own the Opportunities
At the end of a long challenging day, Susan C. noted a woman walking to the front door of EMMC. As bags were falling from her hands tears began to fall down her cheeks.
“Can I help you?” Susan asked the woman.
“My husband’s being transferred from St. Joseph Hospital ,” the woman replied. “I need help to bring these bags with my husband’s things to the heart floor.”
Susan didn’t hesitate. Though she was headed in the other direction, and her family would be waiting for her at home, she scooped up a handful of bags from the floor. Susan knew that she had an opportunity to show this frightened woman the kind of people who would be taking care of her husband. “I would be happy to help you,” she told the woman. “Here, let me take some of these bags for you. I have time.”
The Moral of the Story:
- Amaze them…act like an owner.
Quotation: Opportunities are never lost. The other fellow takes those you miss.
