There is something special about the feeling at Lakewood. We hear about it over and over again from families who have visited other nursing facilities in search of the right surroundings for a loved one. Walk through the doors of our lobby during the warm weather months and out onto the back patio. Bright and bountiful flowering plants, vegetables growing in raised planters, dappled sunlight playing through the patio roof create a welcoming spot for residents and their families.

Inside, the atmosphere is open, bright, and comfortable: plants, an aquarium and great expanses of glass bring the outside in.

While we are proud of this pleasant setting, what happens in this setting is of utmost importance. Many of our patients are with us to recuperate with the help of skilled nurses and a comprehensive rehabilitation program. Others will need long-term care which we can also provide with the kind of staff and surroundings that make residents feel loved and secure.

Lakewood is a not-for-profit skilled nursing facility that has cared for the residents of Central Maine for more than 20 years. We are fully licensed and certified by the State of Maine Department of Human Services. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and most commercial insurance plans.
